The cost of this model is $82,900, with a drive-away price of $84,932. Next up is the Model 3 Long Range (tested) it is a dual motor (so all-wheel drive), has a WLTP range of 614Km and gets to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds. The drive-away price (pre-subsidy) is $68,923, making it a tad over $60K after the subsidy. The cost of this model is $66,900, so it easily qualifies for the Clean Car Scheme subsidy of $8,625. It has a WLTP range of 491Km and can get to 100km/h in 6.1 seconds. There are three models in the Model 3 range The base is called the Rear-Wheel Drive and has a single electric motor, obviously driving the rear wheels. Will having the car sourced from another country make it better? Will it reach its WLTP rating of 614Km? What We Like and Dislike About The 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range What we like This year, Tesla has given us a Chinese-built Model 3 Long Range for a 3-week drive over the 2021-2022 Christmas period. Some glitches occurred with the test car, the range was a problem, and build quality was a little lacking.īut that was an American-built Model 3. In Edmunds' testing, though, the Model 3 Long Range - like the other five Teslas we've tested - came up short, even though most other EVs have hit their EPA estimates without issue. When Rob tested the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus (as it was known then) two years ago, he had mixed feelings. That's a close enough margin that we believe the Model 3 Long Range is technically capable of matching its rating if you take into account the emergency buffer past zero. However, that figure is still 8 miles or 2.3% shy of the Model 3 Long Range's 353-mile EPA rating. When our Tesla hit zero, it had covered 345 miles - a new Edmunds record as of this writing. ![]() During our drive with the Model 3 Long Range, the ambient air temperature was 53 degrees Fahrenheit. Generally, today's EVs have matched or exceeded their EPA range estimates in our testing, although no Tesla has done so yet. Testing the Model 3 Long Range in the real worldĮdmunds tests every new electric vehicle on the same real-world driving loop to see just how far it can travel from a full charge down to zero miles remaining. But how does that range pan out in the real world? The EPA tests in a laboratory, so how much can real-world factors affect a car's range?Įspecially given the Model 3 Long Range's impressive EPA rating, we wanted to see how it stacked up on the Edmunds real-world EV test loop. The Tesla Model 3 Long Range has an EPA-rated driving range of 353 miles, which is more than nearly every other EV on sale today, save for a couple of other Teslas.
